I have recently unlocked the Blu job and I am having a hard time learning these spells.
I keep reading different things like use bst and have the charmed bst fight the monster your trying to learn from and stuff like oh you need to be lvl of the spell to learn it.
So I was wondering if anybody here can give me some better advice than this non-scense cause none of that is working. And the only two spells I have learned so far is Foot Kick and Wild Oats and Im already lvl 9.
Try to get your Blue Magic Skill capped and keep it there. You can spam Foot Kick to help with this. Keep in mind that you need to give the mob TP so that they can use their moves. Foot Kick is good for this as it is low cost and skills up your skill.
If you are capped, just take off your weapon and fight a monster hand to hand. You'll feed it plenty of TP that way without doing much damage at all.
I wouldn't really suggest turning around. That just slows down the mob's TP gain and it will seem to take forever. If low level mobs haven't used it in the time you've spent H2Hing them then just kill them and start on another. This way it won't seem to take so long and won't be quite as miserable.
As you level up this becomes less and less viable to do some of these, but you'll start to learn how best to go about soloing mobs for spells by then.
Use a lotus katana if you have one, and the charming method is bull:skull::skull::skull::skull: =D
And yeah, cap blue magic skill... But I guess that's harder without Pollen...
Good news: once I lvled up my blu magic a little bit more I learned 3 spells back to back, Pollen, Headbutt and Sandspin.
So now I can cap the blu magic and go for some of the others.
And the method I used was going H2H not facing the mob. Also do note I had on mostly leather amor with out the body piece.
Like Yearg said, always cap your Blue Magic skill. It's hard at first, but once you get Pollen, it's worlds easier. It also is a lot easier to try not to stall too long on a mob, because I know I got aggravated when waiting on a mob to use a TP move.
Generally if you have the mob sitting at 2% and you know it has some TP, it's worth it to have it hit you until it uses it, but sometimes it can be horrible to wait for a mob to actually build TP on you by meleeing you slows while you cure yourself. Probably just a preference thing though.
Regardless of have'n your Blue magic max'd .... i think its a lil' bit of luck too .... like a buddy of mine couldn't get sporific for like almost a week ... and i get it in 4 mobs .... where as later that week we went for the blue skill from bandersnatches (forgot the name of it) i have yet to see a bandersnatch use it except the one time when my buddy got it ; ;

I've been keeping Blu skill capped and learning spells with ease. I have a question. Are there any blu spells besides Head Butt and Bludgeon that are useful at around level 20? I try the mob family weaknesses in parties but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Pollen and Healing Breeze.
I know Healing Breeze is learned off Dhalmels in Tahrongi and Buburimu Peninsula.
I have all the spells for my level, I just don't know which to use. I can't wait until I hit level 21 and get more spots for spells.
BLU's are flexible, use different spells depending on what you're fighting. Obviously you wouldn't use Bludgeon on a crab, some of the debuffs are pretty good as well.
I hate you all :( making me want to play FFXI again, so I refuse to put more information besides use debuffs.:cry:
