After I finally found the shop in Nabudis Necrohol, I discover, much to my irritation, that all he sells is Ethers. how do I convince him to upgrade his inventory. I really wanna get ahold of Telekinesis.

Beat the story events at Pharos and Giruvegan?
Awwwww man...oh well. I guess if I *have* to...
Stock up on Ethers because he will stop selling them!!!!
LOL...I'm more intent on the Canopic Jar first.
OMFG!
I want him to sell Ethers (and Scathe), but all he sells is Telekinesis (Which I bought), Magepower Shishak and Maximillian (Which I also bought), Demon Shields (I didn't need to buy any because I found several), and Rings of Renewal!
Wut iz up wit dat!?
Scathe he will sell later, iirc
I'd be careful though that the Canopic Jar doesn't become a back-stabber on ya though. Say you're going for the Ribbon from a Level 99 Red Chocobo that you encounter 1/265 times...and when you defeat him he drops an...Arcana. That'd blow.
I'm just saying that make sure it doesn't come around to bite ya in the butt when you go for rare items from drops and instead find...coal instead of diamonds.
This happened to me - I entered Nabudis (from the deadlands, making my trip REALLY long) and when I got there I was all psyched out to get Telekenisis, Scathe, etc. and I was like "ethers...are you kidding me?"
merchant??bah i cant even find teh medallions
You don't need the medallions to go through the necrohol to where the merchant is. Even if you started on the deadlands side xD
owh u mean its not in those darned locked doors...i ran through the whole place..not a soul...(not counting de undead of coz XD)
He is in a corner of a room close to the enterance from the Woods. Just hug the walls until you see an action available, he'll come crawling out of nowhere to sell you wonderful items.
Spoiler? The medallions unlock the doors to "secret" bosses and, eventually, an esper.
