Do you have to defeat Beclem's High Score to get the Mascot dresssphere? Because the high score from your last game carries over to the New Game +, which makes it really hard to defeat it during the New Game +, unless you specifically aim for low scores.

It's only for %? Not needed for the Episode Complete and the Mascot?
You do need the episode complete for Besaid, and to get that I think you need to beat him in your current game. The % is irrelevant for Mascot as its determined by the EpComs.
And yeah, if you plan to get Mascot in any New Game +'s aim low so you don't make the task bloody hard next time :p
I only beat Beclem once iirc and got my Mascot on game 2
Indeed, it seems, looking at gamefaqs, that I'm wrong. You don't need to beat him, just meet him.
