weird swords

i think that weird swords keep final fantasy alive and since seven we have had them

Buster sword- Cloud
Masamune- Sephiroth
Gunblade- Seifer and Squall
Tidus swords esp Brotherhood- Tidus

i think ff9 failed due to it not having a weird sword

or maybe the things that kept final fantasy alive were engaging storylines, in-depth character development, excellent gameplay, beautiful graphics, and beautiful music.

Because we all know four weird swords out of four-hundred plain swords is cleary indicative of a trend.

Gilgamesh(especially in FFXII) has some the best swords ever

Please enlighten me as to how it "failed"?

ff9 being in the top5 games of all time in the ps1 makes it even higher than ff7. thats a very shallow remark to say that ff9 failed cause it had no weird sword.

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10

Had a sword. (Unless you were rubbish and chose a class/job which couldn't use swords. In which case you are a pansy and probably called Yuna.)

If the main character can use any weapon, the whole the "Main Character uses swords" arguement falls a bit flat. :rolleyes2 So we can eliminate 1, 2, 3, and 5 from this right off the bat.

8 and 9 are debateable, as Zidanes weapons are refered to as Thief Swords. If that doesn't count, then gunblades sure as hell don't.

So that leaves IV, VI , VII and X. One could easily argue that IX surpasses all of the above in many different respects. Ergo, it does not fail. :D

Besides, if all a game has going for it is "ZOMG, SORD!!!111!", then it's a pretty damn pathetic game. :rolleyes2

This is probably a little off topic, but I made Firion use a Sword and Spear at the same time. That's a little weird, huh?

What's so weird about their swords???:confused:
