Besides X-2, do any FFs have alternate endings if you lose to the final boss? I doubt it, but I thought that was an interesting aspect of FFX-2.

There are no alternate ending in the other FF games though you do get variation of the endings in FFV, FFVI, and FFIX if you follow the proper requirements.
FFV's ending changes depending on who is left alive after the final battle. If everyone survives you get the long ending, otherwise... (SPOILER)the story only focuses on who survived and then the fallen comrades get revived at the end.
In FFVI the ending is depended on who you recruited in the WoR. Though there are different endings to specific characters if they share their ending with someone and you only have one of them. Edgar/Sabin, Locke/Celes, and Relm/Strago. I'm not completely sure about this one though as I've only heard about it. I can't bring myself to not get everyone.
I've hears FFIX gets a slight addition to the normal ending if you keep a rare item called the Hammer in your inventory. Once again I don't know real details or even if it is true, though I've heard it only involves an extra scene with the Tantalus group.
These are all I've heard...
It nothing new. Chrono Trigger has an alternate ending if you loose to the boss. I believe there are a few other older games as well that do it.
Many FFs have this weird alternate ending when you lose to the final boss. It's called the "game over" scene. I'm not entirely sure what it means...
Interesting - thanks guys :)
