no every materia or accesorie you get can not get you more expirience its just there to help in battle
there is an EXP Plus purple materia you can get at the Gold Saucer later in the game.

OH YEAH I JUST REMEMBERD!! from the chocobo races right?
EXP Plus doesn't come from the Chocobo Races per se, more like the Chocobo Races are the only reliable way to raise 2000 GP to get the bloody thing. Totally worth it though.
There's also a Gil Plus materia.
