Nintendo has now become the controlling stockholder of Monolith Soft. Control of the company responsible for such RPG offerings as the Xenosaga series has been split between Nintendo and Namco-Bandai, with Nintendo taking an 80% share and Namco-Bandai retaining 16%.
Other projects that the Monolith Soft team has worked on include the Baten Kaitos series and Namco x Capcom. Before leaving Squaresoft in 1999, many members of Monolith Soft had been involved in developing Xenogears.
