If you didn't play FF X, X-2 will probably make little sense to you, but if you want to start by playing X before any other FF it's fine, because each game has its own independent story (except for X-2 and Revenant Wings... and Dirge of Cerberus and... oh, well.)
Same thoughts as what KoShiatar said, you can play an Final Fantasy in any order, just dont start with a sequel or any kind of spin off really:rolleyes2
Unless it's a prequal to a game.
Even then it may not be a great idea. Any numbered game is fine. There is no recommended starting game.
....What?
None of the FFs are connected to each other with the exception of FF X and X-2, the FF VII Compilation, and FF XII and FF XII:Revenant Wings
Moved to General Final Fantasy forum.
No knowledge of other Final Fantasy games is necessary to play any of the titles in the series, except for FFX, FFX-2, and the Compilation of FFVII, of course.
Just don't play FFX-2.
