Well, just go play IX and get Save the Queen, and play FF VI for STrago's Grand Train (Better than Doom Train anyway).
Give one of your party members Mug and Initative abilities, this will allow you to strike first and steal Malboro Tentacles before it attacks, then run away and repeat till you get the amount you need. Hope this helps.:)

Same for me I had alot of trouble doin all this but then Oden came for me lol and I got 8 of em :]
i lvled up like crazy on the island closest to hell.. so i didnt really have a problem getting those tentacles.. i think i missed some other stuff though.. i never really got all the ultimate weapons.. although i did get lionheart, rinoa's and zell's(main party)
Quistis' Degenerator works wonders coupled with initiative.
I could never beat Malboro's neither but the easiest way is hope Odin shows! :p
Or put 100x Death on your status attack.
Play Triple Triad to collect Malboro's cards; then refine them. That's much more fun.
That's my preferred strategy too. I use that against level 100 Malboros on the Island Closes to Hell, when I've got a low-level party.Quote:

Another thing I've found useful is using the Pain/Confuse Status Defense combo and adding something like Fire to Elemental Attack and either 100 Death or (more reasonable by the time you first encounter Malboro's, IMO) 100 Zombie to Status Attack. If you go with Zombie, then just drop a Phoenix Down or Curaga on 'em. 1-2-3... done. Also, if you got Mug on your Status Attacker, so much the better.
