Use anything you want in any way.
- I would have them have any colour hair apart from blond, as that's getting boring now.
- Unless it's a women, stop making them look so pretty
- On that note, make it a woman for once (something which they seem to have taken notice of for XIII)
- Assuming the protagonist is a women, actually allow them to have fun once in a while (ie make them smile).
Never going to happen... but, make the main character non-bishounen. Can we ever get a male main character that ISN'T effeminate-looking, or if we do get one that's effeminate-looking, can we actually have him effeminate acting too?
Can the main character also not use either a knife or sword?

Something else....make them gay/lesbian. That'll be a shocker.
I wanted to say that, but we all know that'll like, never happen. The most we can hope for is more subtext in a game.
