Im assuming this has something to do with the whole time travel thing in the game but i cant figure it out.

After Ulti is defeated the last time Squall tells Edea about Garden and then there is a loop.When little Squall grow up he will defeat Seifer.

Until the last "Laguna dream" you can use the Gf as Laguna,which means you are using it before the time you acquired it.
It was a charade.
