i really want to buy one of these but the site i was going to order it from would be shipping from japan. Does anyone know if there would be a compatibility problem? Obviously my DS Lite is a USA version.

The paddle controller works with North American DSes and the North American versions of the games it was designed for.
I have it. It's frickin' awesome. It works as it should with all regions/versions of Arkanoid and Space Invaders, and it also works with Mario Kart DS.
AWESOME. Now where's the cheapest place to find it? The one i'm looking at online costs $35 including shipping.
Looks like that's the *only* place to get it right now. Most other online import sites don't seem to have it by itself, only have it packaged with the Japanese version of Arkanoid (which is how I got mine).
