Usually ftp links are of the form ft>p://username:>password@url.exam>ple.com/folder/subfolder/file.txt :p You can leave out :password if there's none, and the whole username:>password@ bit if anonymous logins are allowed :p
So that totally didn't work.
If you've uploaded a file to a web server (in your root folder), you should be able to link to it simply using:
http://www.[domainname.com]/filename
