missed opportunity
I think this game is great, but one big frustrating thing they didn't do has always annoyed me. When you have to split into parties to take out the various bosses at the same time, I wish they had done like in ff6 and actually made you go through dungeons with different parties simultaneously. Such a missed opportunity!

I remember feeling terrified when I thought I'd have to fight a boss with just Dagger and Eiko. =O
-
that would be awesome! those are always the most fun boss fights, when you are stuck with a small party, or weak party, or something. The most epic being Ramza vs. Wiegraf in tactics, but there are many examples.
-
Yeah, I was super nervous the first time I played it, too xD But I agree that it would've been awesome to do them all.
-
I never thought of that, but it would be fun!
-
I do agree with this. I really wanted to see this happen. I felt the same way in VII when you split up in the Crater. It could have been epic.
-
it does seem weird that square didn't add this element in, given its successful use in ff6. I guess they targeted the PS generation games to less hardcore gamers than the SNES generation games.
-
would have been great...on a 2nd playthrough
the first time only my teams with zidane or steiner would have stood any sort of a chance
-
it would be fine on a first playthrough as long as you had a chance to save and go level up right before the battles/dungeons.

Nothing can hold back the combo of the Red Dragon knight and the Flaming Salamander.
:freya: :salamander:

Steiner and Vivi would get their asses kicked. They have no proper way of healing other than items, which is kinda meh... Dagger and Eiko lack offensive power but Dagger's trance would come in handy here. I was kinda glad when Quina went with Zidane. She can be a pretty potent support caster with all the blue magic that's available a that point.

steiner was strong enough to do all the damage with vivi cureing with items or attacking when he could
-
I actually thought that that was going to be the case the first time I played the game and I felt disappointed by the actual result. I'd not played FFVI by that time, but it just seemed like a really cool bit of the game with all of your party members fighting together. At the same time I was relieved that I wouldn't have to fight a boss with just Eiko and Garnet. Though if it were an undead monster that would've been doable, I guess.
