A Taste of Real Blood
My older brother came home for Thanksgiving and reminded me about this show he used to watch on HBO when he had cable. Then that was when he had pulled out a season 1 DVD collection of that show called True Blood.
Before he put it in I asked him if was similar to anything like the Twilight stuff and thank goodness he said no. I was impressed about this show. I never seen one deal with vampires in this manner before. Most of these new mediums are either about either slaying vampires or dating them. It seemed pretty cool to have in this realistic way.
A good deal of the show you're not even aware you're watching something about vampires. It's more like how wour world would be if we had vampires.
So far I've watched up to episode 8 and here are some spoilers below for the people who haven't seen this show yet and don't want to be spoiled.
(SPOILER) This program has a great cast of characters my favorite ones being Sookie, Bill, Terra, and Raphael. Raphael was badass when that guy said he wouldn't eat an AIDS burger. He really showed them he wasn't no one to mess with. That :bou::bou::bou::bou: was too funny. This show is going in an interesting direction. I like this murder mystery plot and I'm upset that Sookie's grandmother died. Sookie and Tera's boss seems very suspicious. Remember that one episode at the end when he was sniffing the bed sheets of that girl that got murdered who was messing around with Sookie's brother? I also remember that strange dog that showed up in those first few episodes.
Then he was also running in the woods naked and said that he was a nudist, but when the cop checked for nudsit groups, he wasn't on there list. What i'm thinking is that he can transform into that dog. Please don't tell me if I'm right or wrong. I liked to be surprised.
To those who haven't seen it I suggest you watch it if you have HBO and if you don't try and get the box set DVDs although I don't know how much it costs. My brother probably got a discount since he works at Best Buy.

Season 2 is pretty damn entertaining too. If you catch up on that you can catch the new episodes when they come on next summer. :D
-
There's already a thread about Season 2 here if you want to check it out. Lots of great gifs in the thread.
One of the best parts of True Blood are the gifs that the internet spews forth the day after. :p
If you ever read the books, there are definitely elements in the Sookie Stackhouse series and Twilight that are similar. But True Blood is written better (though that's not saying much) and there's a whole lot more sex going on.
The caliber of the show is obviously 1000x better than the Twilight movies. I HATED some parts of Season 2 (Mary Ann) but loved other parts (Godric!). Looking forward to the next season cause I know what happens next and I CAN'T WAIT.
-
Yeah, the main plot for the latter half of season 2 was borderline unbearable at times (anything involving Mary Ann). But before that the show consistently held my interest.
-
I agree on the Mary Ann sentiments. I didn't enjoy her character as much as I've enjoyed the majority of others. I have a love-hate relationship with Sookie in that I hate when she talks but I love when she gets naked. Overall good show. Not exactly the best show ever, but it is better than the majority of vampire-related :bou::bou::bou::bou: that is out there.

I'm not sure if I'll see season 2 since I don't have HBO. Possibly I might see it if my brother gets the season 2 set. Just watched episode 9
(SPOILER)I thought that girl Jason was with was a little funny and I was right. It's too dangerous for Jason to be with her. She's a drug addict too since she went to the depths of kidnapping a vampire and harvesting him from her house. It's worse that she doesn't consider him a person either. If he stays with her they might wind up in jail.
I'm still not totally sure what's going on with Tera and this demon thing. It's like the show really is saying that she has an actual demon in her and it's just not a metaphor for her bad habits and some of the messed up stuff she went through in life. I was dissapointed that I was right about Sookie's boss. It seemed too obvious in those last couple of minutes in the show. Now Sookie knows and I can't wait to see tonight how she reacts to the weredog??

Urm there are places that you can watch it online like surfthechannel which eoff does not condone that you go and look at :shifty:

I have a huge issue with all the fangirls/boys of vampirism and all its form in media and assumed this would be just as bad but ...
I really like this show for some reason.
-
Put simply; this show is awesome!
Cant wait for season 3 :)
-
i have a hard time watching vampires with super white trash accents...
-
Yeah, I'm following the show as well. Only watched the first five or six episodes up until now, and I'm really enjoying it. It's a good show.
-
Watched the episode where
(SPOILER) sookie is almost killed by a random guy and bill is about to make this teenage girl a vampire. Overall it was okay. Wonder what the next will be like.
-
Yeah, season 2 was fantastic except for the whole Mary-Ann thing just dragging on horribly. I expected better, Alan Ball! :(
-
Just watched the last episode of season 1. Wow what an ending I
(SPOILER)I didn't expect the hippie girl to die. It hurt me inside. What did she do man. That was awful and it was worse when Jason was convinced that he was the one that killed her. I don't know how I would react in that situation. Most surprising thing though was finding out that the Spanish guy was the murderer all along. Never suspected him.
Can't wait to see 2 now.
-
(SPOILER)I suspected him pretty early on but I didn't really put too much thought into it until later on in the first season. He was just a little shady, too nice, and protective of everyone around him. It was suspicious.
