Break up songs

Breaking up is never easy, and being the one abandoned is really hard. Three years ago my ex broke up with me, and I was working from my place at the time so I could listen to a lot of music. For nearly 2 months, I was continuously listening to these 2 guys : Damien Rice and Glen Hansard (from the movie "Once", band "The Frames" & "The Swell Season"). Deeply sad and dark songs that can hurt a lot, but it seemed that's what I needed to do.

My question : Do you listen to sad songs when a situation like this happens ? Or do you totally try to do the opposite and listen to songs that can cheer you up ?!

There are some really good songs. The one I like that's popular right now is Breakeven by The Script. I also like Ex-Girlfriend by No Doubt.

I know like every Kelly Clarkson song is like a break up song. :p

"Famous Last words" My Chemical Romance - if nothing else, the title and the lyrics are amusing.

I listened to a LOT of Radiohead when I was going through my last break up. Music helps me cope, even if it does just make me sad for a while xD

If I go through another break up I think I'll just listen to Angie by the Rolling Stones on a loop.

I usually listen to a lot of fast, angry music to snap myself out of being sad.

For some reason this comes to mind xD


On a serious note - I don't remember using any specific music to cope with a break-up. I'm sure I've subconsciously listened to something that helped me deal with it, though.
