Suggestive Clay

I stayed up all night last night making this suggestive sculpture, not because i'm a pervert (although that was a contributing factor), but because my art coursework is all due in on Wednesday. Dunno if i'll be able to fire it in time but meh...

Yes so it took ages, mostly because of the size of it (I left my mug on the side for a comparison) and therefore the weight. I had to reinforce the joints a lot because of the amount of stress put on them. Plus, kneading and rolling out that much clay is hard work :(

I was inspired by a Judy Chicago piece and Georgia O'Keefe's work. I then went on to make a sort of maquette out of rubber gloves which I turned into a monoprint (both included in the photos) and subsequently, my sculpture :D Sculpting's not really my thing, i'm more into drawing and painting, so it's a tad simple.

That is one large... thing. I approve of this. Post finished pics!

Haha if I manage to get it finished I will definitely post pics, it needs to dry out and be fired first though which might take a while.

The colored version is pretty, but still somewhat suggestive. I like it!

Yeah the coloured version is the one I made with rubber gloves, it was my starting point which led on to the sculpture. That's why it's so colourful :)

And Pride, yeah it's supposed to be suggestive of one.

I've been waiting a fair while to use that one! But anyway, jokes aside, let us know how it all goes tomorrow and such, and what grade you get for this. How does it all fit in to your course?

I won't find out my grade for aaages, and I don't get graded for each individual piece. It's part of one of two units of work i've done this year, which both get marked then the score is averaged out for my overall grade.

My teacher really liked it when I took it in though, he said it was beautifully made which made it so worth staying up all night :D
