PS3 Dilema

Well my ps3 has been broken down for the pass week and the technical support group says my ps3 does not work anymore and should get it repaired for $150. i was thinkin about just selling my ps3 for some cash and buying a new modern 120gb slims. i know i won't get that much off of an old 40gb broken ps3 i was thinking max $60. so would it be a good idea to sell it and save up for a new one or find another alternative?

I would recommend getting a new PS3 with part exchange on your broken PS3... maybe trade in some old games you don't want anymore to get the price down a bit more, though if it were me I would go for the 250gb console but that's cause I use the console for more then just gaming and find the 250gb is suitable to my needs.
