Favourite Christmas Song
I'm feeling suitably festive at the moment and have remembered how much I like Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea. Otherwise I've always quite liked Sinatra's Let It Snow.
On the whole, I'm relatively ambivalent towards Christmas songs, but there are the odd couple I like. In truth, I just phase it out when I'm on autopilot and Christmas shopping!
Which are you favourites?
-
The obvious answer is Fairytale of New York - because it's great.
Just Like Christmas by Low is a big favourite too, as is a lot of the stuff on Sufjan Stevens' Christmas songs boxset.
-
Della Reese recorded one of the first (if not the first) vocal version of "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm", which is highly recommended. It is such a unique version, and worth a listen.
-
Blackmore's Night's version of Good King Wenceslas is awesome. Also Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews have a great version of Baby it's Cold Outside.
-
Im not much of a fan of christmas music, however I have alot of so called christmas music cds. For me anything by the trans siberian orchestra is great :).
-
I like older christmas songs, like e.g. Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Silent Night" and such. Bing Crosby has also recorded some very good ones. Just traditional christmas songs in general, really.
I'm also a sucker for "Last Christmas" by Wham. There, I said it!

Any Christmas song sung by Nat King Cole and Dean Martin. I love Walking in a Winter Wonderland and Baby it's Cold Outside. I also like the Christmas song by Smashing Pumpkins even though the video for that is kinda creepy.

I cant believe square enix actually released this
But it's pretty awesome

Driving Home For Christmas by Chris Rea does it for me everytime.
-
Mine is definitely the Barenaked Ladies featuring Sarah McLaughlin version of "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen." The rhythm is awesome and it's so fun to sing along with.

I love Christmas hymns.
Angels We Have Heard on High. The 'Glooooooooooria' part goes on forever. :D
Silent Night
O Come All Ye Faithful
O Holy Night
What Child is This?
The secular Christmas songs range from simply great (Jingle Bells) to simply awful (Santa Baby).

Either All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey or Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer by Dr Elmo.
Speaking of which I haven't heard either of those this year anywhere. For shame, America.
