Yes. I like this thread. Haven't got around to listening to his most recent album, however.
I found out about Arnalds through Nico Muhly, who is also a composer. Check him out, it's all brilliant stuff: "A Hudson Cycle (Live)" & Mothertongue Part 1 - "Archive".
A lot of his stuff I can't quite feel. I recognize the quality but it feels detached, like it's meant to go with a movie or something. A couple, however - 19:53 and Ljósiđ - are awesome.
This is the first I've heard of this composer and I must thank you. This is fantastic music. I love it when melodies sound like they are talking, and this man has a clear talent for that.
Edit: I've listened to a number of his pieces by now and they are all quality. However, I notice a complete lack of any fast compositions, which is reassuring to me because if this guy can get away with writing no fast music, perhaps I can too. I was also about to mention that he has almost no 'dark' sounding music either, but now Brotsjor is playing so I can no longer make that statement.
Wow, I'm so glad everyone enjoys him so far!
Also, @Aurey - I love that video. It goes perfectly with the song. Reminds me of dancing squid for some reason.
