Fantasy Baseball
It's that time again! For eight years we've played EoFF Fantasy Baseball and for eight years those blasted California Angles have won. Someone here has to stop those bastards! Or at least have fun playing for second place. :p

We currently have 8 teams from last year but can use 2-4 more. Come try to stop my reign of terror! I dare ya!

I sat in first for a few weeks but this year, it shall be I who stops your reign.

I need to spend a couple days studying up for the draft this year. maybe I'll have down time at work.
-
Only 9 teams this year? I guess that will work.
Current draft time is set for Saturday March 19 at 11AM PST. Don't be late!

FINALLY, Longoria is back in my lineup starting tomorrow.
Take care all.
-
Looks like my hold on first place is coming to an end. :( Hopefully I'll retake it back soon! :D It's been a little over a month now.
-
I was on vacation. Did I have first for a few days? It seems like the standings are the same as when I left.
-
My team is almost playing to expectations FINALLY!
Take care all.

Is that a little sweat I see Tony?
Take care all.

I will not lie, this will be a tough win. It will basically come down to who has the hot players in the end.
-
Looks like a three team race as we head in to the dog days! Exciting times!
Take care all.

Not having a solid RF has hurt me. Beltran has been terrible for the Giants and he was only ok for the Mets to begin with. I should have traded him earlier because he's a big name and would get some draw. I should have made a trade in general. Your blockbuster deals have definitely been a driving force in your current standing.
Really, my only mistakes have been when I missed those two ace performances from Haren and CC because I forgot to sub them in on their days. It was something like 2QS, 2W, 20K, 0ER, 1BB... in fact I think Haren had a no-hitter going into the 8th inning in that game.

My goal this year was to remain as competitive as possible in every category and not punt on some of them. I always seem to lag behind in power numbers, so every move I made was to try and strengthen those, even at the cost of other numbers. Home runs are not as easy to obtain as they used to and this is the first time in years that I feel like I'm getting good power production out of more then just one or two players.
Still, there's a 1/4 of the season to go, no time to let up yet.
Take care all.

I usually punt the speed categories. Well, not entirely but I generally ignore them as a priority and instead look for power guys who will sneak 10-15 steals a year. Near the end of the season is where I try to pad my speed stats because by then I have a wide margin in the power numbers. Oh, I do try to have one triples specialist on my team. The plan was for it to be Drew this year but then he had that nasty injury.
The two most important stats in our league are HR and K/BB. My K/BB sucks this year and that is why I am not winning. Good pitching is too abundant this year. Same with steals. That makes it hard when your strategy is to find value in situations where it is scarce. I miss the steroid days.

I'm really glad I ended up with Ben Zobrist this season, as he was my specialty player, someone I could plug in at first, second and the outfield. He had an awful year last season and was primed to bounce back, which he has. He's exactly the player I needed because he hits for decent average, hits 15-20 HR's, and will steal about 15 bases.
On a slightly unrelated note, I very much enjoy playing against you guys because you are always keeping me on my toes. Even in years when Del was running away with the league, most of us stick it out until the bitter end, which makes everything that much more fun.
Take care all.
