Is Cid Highwind a "redneck?"

The accent that he speaks with kinda reminds me of redneck people from the Deep Southern region of the United States. Is he a redneck?

He's some angry depressed person.

He speaks like retired Navy from the mid-west. I wouldn't say he sounds anything like the Deep South. Besides, rednecks aren't rocket scientists.

He has a Southern accent in the film, but he's not a redneck. A hothead, sure, but being poorly educated is a significant aspect of people being typically called a redneck, and Cid is really, really, well-educated, obviously.

No, and I'm not sure why they made him sound like one in Dirge/Advent Children.

He can pilot anything.. including a god damn ROCKET. How many rednecks control rockets

Yes he is, and so am I.

But then, I'm biased, as I'm from Montana-- specifically a city that doubles as both a farm town and a university town-- land of the oh so elusive but indeed existing Educated, Intelligent Redneck. (Assuming we don't automatically mean Redneck = South, that is. That depends on who you ask, I guess.)

There is no evidence to this. I have never seen him with a Confederate flag on his airship, or attending Nascar rallies.

There's plenty of space around Rocket Town to build a Nascar track too.
