eating frogs
So what do you think happened when Zidane, Freya, and Vivi just sat around watching their new swamp-dwelling buddy run around like a moron trying to scoop up frogs for an hour when there was clearly something more important to handle.
Did you have fun eating frogs? I should have bred them but NOPE GONNA ERADICATE THEM GOLD ONES. Were you good at it? I wasn't. Lots of near misses.

I was pretty trout. Would usually get to about 60, then I'd get bored. I've never once fought Quale. :(
-
Since I NEVER use Quina except when I have to, I never waste my time on this.
The first time I played, though--even though I knew to let the frogs respawn--I'd got from continent to continent wiping out the frogs. x)

It was kind of a trout little mini game so I just caught all the frogs and continued with the storyline until they respawned. Never fought Quale but I got a fair way through the prizes. It just sucks.
I like to imagine Zidane and co are just laughing at how absolutely useless the player is at catching frogs. smurfing frogs.

I thought that is the coolest part of the game. Anything that focuses on Quina is holy and divine. :quina:

I liked the frog thing for a little while. Most of my playthroughs lately I just use a gameshark code to have 98 frogs and then fight Quale since I don't need any of the prizes or anything and I've already beaten it legit before. It's annoying and sad, and I like being able to get Excalibur II.

this thread is now about married to the sea

Am I the only one who actually likes frog catching? I boost Frog Drop to 9999 and fight Quale every playthrough. :(

You! I'm ashamed of you for calling yourself an IX fan without even having fought Quale. :nonono:

Sorry Messer Rantzien, sir. :(

He's a FAN.
He just has a life.
*cough*
BUT I'M SURE YOU'D KNOW ALL ABOUT THAT RANTZ

I have probably sunk over 2000 hours into FFIX. When I played it, I did not have a life.
I miss not having a life so much. :(

I'm a bit of a completionist, so I always just remind myself that it doesn't take as long as getting the Jupiter Sigil in Blitzball, it's less annoying than Tidus' chocobo training and less boring than dodging 200 lightning bolts.
And it's a hell of a lot less tedious than trying to manipulate card games rules in FF8. smurf's sake.
Also there's legitimate challenge in doing it so it's not as much of a choregrind as FF7's chocobo racing.
