swallow/safe helm

One of these two things is a viable option!

Which did you initially pick during your first Chrono Trigger playthrough? I took the helmet. Crono was indisposed at the time, so I just opted to give Lucca a sweet helmet.

I didn't pick, I turned tail and went back and did all the other side quests first so I could be confident I could chose the best one. Of course both were outclassed by that point.

Safe Helm is easilly the better option. It's use lasts far longer then the sword.

You can easily get a better sword soon after, so the helmet is the clear choice.

The sword is the only choice. The sword is unique, the helm can be acquired through other means. To a perfectionist, the choice is clear.

It gets even clearer with the DS version tracking your inventory completion.

I went with the helm, it was really useful at final boss.

The attack animation of the Swallow is really neat. Last playthrough I grabbed it before Mt. Woe and didn't have to replace it until I snagged the Shiva Edge.

I go with the Swallow on first playthrough, Safe Helm on all subsequent playthroughs.

That's what I'm saying. Swallow easily. Helmet is better, but is Chrono Trigger really a difficult game?

I go with the sword because I turn the rainbow shell into three prism helms.

definitely Swallow

I usually go for Swallow as I'm the sort of person who likes to have one of every item in my inventory, even if I never even bother with said items.
