Magitek mounts in Final Fantasy XIV!

In the recent Live Letter from the producer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, a short clip was played that revealed a new concept certain to spark excitement for any true Final Fantasy fan: Magitek-armored mounts!

If you have any doubt about the scene the developers were trying to create with this clip, just take a look at this picture:

We’ve known that Magitek armor was going to be a part of FFXIV for a while now, but this is certainly new. And certainly badass.

Magitek armour? Based on the actual Amano designs?

Makes me wish I actually cared about this game. :D

The head-honcho, Yoshi-P, has repeatedly emphasized the concept of adding new items and locations from the main Final Fantasy series. Magitek armor is only one example of that. There's also the Crystal Tower dungeon, new primals based on popular summons such as Odin, etc. The game is basically going to be one big oldschool FF reference.

This looks pretty awesome. Sadly, Blizzard completely gutted my desire to ever play an MMO again.

Seriously, that's one of the coolest things I've seen so far. I was just happy riding chocobos before, but ill love having options when it comes to mounts now.

nope, those are actually the only pics there are about this.... wait...i guess yoshi-p had some artwork but that should be all of it.

I think it going to be part of a quest, mission, or something with PVP? I don't think it will be a obtainable mount.

Well doesn't that just burst a bubble. :/

Either way it'll still be cool to ride em anyway, but I could understand it being a one time scenario, especially since they don't seem to travel very fast. At some point you'd have to wonder what would be the point in riding one if those things apart from looking cool.
