You may have remembered our little April Fool's joke where we teased that in a secret "closed doors" PS4 after-show event that Square Enix unveiled Kingdom Hearts III to the select members of the press and industry. Well, as it turns out, we weren't actually that far off!
During the Sony E3 Media Briefing, Tetsuya Nomura revealed that Kingdom Hearts III is, infact, a thing - and it's coming! Although he didn't go into many specifics he did treat us to a small trailer and you can expect more details as E3 continues.

I am pretty certain that this isn't going to be anywhere near finished for an absolute age, but at the moment I can just sit and weep tears of joy that it's been confirmed. All Sony had to do to ensure that I would buy their next gen console is put this game on it (assuming it stays exclusive for Sony), everything else they announced is just a bonus.

I know. I'm so happy that it's finally real and that we aren't going to be getting another handheld game. I imagine it won't be here for at least 2-3 years, but so glad it's real!

What confuses me is - in the past we heard that developers who worked on KH3 were working on Versus and thus the delay... now that they've been announced at the same time what does that mean? Is one nearer to completion then we'd imagined?

I suspect XV was probably very nearly done or at least over 50% done when they shifted it to the PS4. Then they probably took a skeleton crew off of XV to begin working on KH3 and then the full team will get shifted over once XV is finished.

YOU GUYS THOUGHT MY JOKE WAS CRUEL. I say I got you prepared. I was squealing and jumping up and down for this game.
Well they said that when versus was done that's when they'd work on KH3, with versus becoming XV and it's what, 6 year production, that gives way that they are more close to XV's finish which has allowed them to work on KH3
