Hate to say it, but I like these way better than Amano's representations of the characters. These actually look similar to real people (if anime'd) as opposed to Amano's ill-proportioned porcelain doll style

I like 'em.

Probably inspired by him. Although the lines are still a lot cleaner.

He did actually do these. These came from Takashi Aki's twitter. I probably should've put that in the first post.

Who the hell is the guy in the middle of the VI picture? It's not Locke - he's just above, in the bandana. Also, the grandma next to Strago and Relm? Dafuq?

I think you're referring to Sabin. He's not as beefed out as his sprite is in the game. But I like the look. A lot of fans draw him that way as well

Nope. Sabin is to the top-right, along with Edgar. Both are pretty scruffy looking.

I'm starting to think the guy in the middle is Nomura, or his own personal Mary Sue for the game :D

Seriously, there's sixteen characters (plus a chocobo and Interceptor) on this pic, while there were only fourteen playable characters (Mog, Umaro and Gogo may be hard to spot, but they're there). Who the hell is the bishie and the grandma? Why am I the only one bothered by this? :(

The grandmother may be the wife of Strago who was originally planned to be a playable character with the Geomancer job class, I think?
