Who should have been the main character?

As we all know, Square Enix has a bit of an obsession with Lightning. She has been on the cover of every game despite the fact that she shared the stage pretty evenly with all the other party in XIII and wasn't even in the party of XIII-2. This has all culminated into a final game where she takes the center stage as your only playable character.

I can't comment on the newest game since it is not out yet in the US, but I personally find Lightning to be a pretty bland character out of the original party. If you were in charge of this final game, who would you have preferred to be the main character and why?

Vanille or Fang as the main character would have truly meant something, in terms of a "return". Lightning never really disappeared. I mean, not really. She did, but she didn't. We still heard her voice as a narrator, as if she was stalking Serah and Noel the entire time in XIII-2. Iunno, it's a philosophical question with no real answer.

I'd go with Snow, just because in every game he becomes more and more of a fashionista. Or maybe Caius, so I can slap Yeul for being a moron? D:

Lightning is ok, she's just been oversaturated as a mascot of the XIII series, a series a lot of fans didn't care for.

Chocolina should have been the mascot.

My main issue with Lightning is that (in my mind) is that they really didn't give her much development at all. They tried to make her the next Cloud by trying to give her the badassery they associate with Cloud without giving her any of his depth. She is okay, but I just happen to think she's the least interesting out of the group.

I think XIII-2's Hope could make an interesting character to focus on. That Hope is a cool guy.

I think Hope in general is a misunderstood character. People hated him because he was young and lost his mom? As if any child wouldn't be upset over such a thing.

I got annoyed by him, but he had nice development as a character. I'm pretty interested in seeing what he's like in Lightning Returns.

Snow. I know everyone hates him - I bloody don't. He's a big dumb oaf and I like both the fella and the idea of playing as him going around punching things. Imagine this:

Girl: My cat's stuck up a tree!
Snow: I'm a hero! Heroes save the day! HEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOO PUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNCH!

He then proceeds to save the day by punching the tree until it explodes and the poor feline is blasted off Team Rocket style. As she looks on in horror, Snow sheepishly grins at the girl for a few seconds before hauling ass out of there. Nobody, and I mean smurfing nobody on this god damned message board can tell me that a whole game of this would be anything short of incredible.

I'd play the smurf out of a game with Chocolina as the main character.

Anyone else is the easy answer. Snow is a superb pick: he has a hero complex after all. Hope is great: he has grown and matured and become one hell of an important figure. Fang and Vanille didn't get a lot of air time, so it would be great to see either of them return as the main character; or both of them as joint heroes, sort of the way Serah and Noel worked, I suppose.

But man, Sazh, old Bananagun Jones, he has so much potential. He's the real fan favourite. How great would that be.

If you think Lightning is hot, you should probably grab the Mass Effect games. Ali makes a hot Lightning, but she's an even hotter Liara. That's all I'm gonna say.

And people that haven't played the ME games and complain about Lightning being rather emotionless in the XIII series will probably poop themselves when they see the difference.
