For making me fall in love with Final Fantasy, for its characters, for the despair I experienced with them, for its dark and light moments.

For having the best quotes in the entire brand.

For setting the standard of the highest quality of video game that no game since has surpassed.

For giving us the ability to control multiple parties. For giving us the ability to play out scenarios in an order we choose, and for giving us a freeform last part of the game. For having actual differences between the Worlds of Balance and Ruin with different tones and themes and distinct feelings of gravitas. For daring to mix cunning politics in, and not just x is an empire and therefore evil. For Kefka's laugh. For a large cast of characters, with interesting stories and personalities, and for making some of them entirely missable and for allowing you to lose some of them in the World of Ruin.

For daring to give us dark themes, like suicide and loss, and dealing with the inability to let someone go, the shame of having hurt someone.

For being on of the big three RPGs I played in constant rotation for a couple of summers in my early/mid teen years. Just for the record it was FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and EarthBound. Those were the days...
