From a technical standpoint, it certainly is the best entry by fár. From a general standpoint, it's still the best entry by fár. :D
I rate it the worst out of the first 13 :(

I haven't played it, but the general reception I see is it's either too hard, people didn't enjoy it as much as the others or they never played it like me. I think II had the most going for it out of the NES/Famicom entries I've played.
