If your relationship to Games and Developers were like actual human relationships...

Final Fantasy is my ex, we had a messy fight cause she screwed up. I still see her from time to time and she looks like she's starting to get her act together again but the emotional wounds are still deep so I look with my eyes but unwilling to reach out with my heart until I see some real commitment to mend the relationship.

Metal Gear Solid is like being in a bad relationship and knowing it. You know they are just taking advantage of you but then they do that thing you love, so you just keep crawling back even though you keep telling yourself this time it's over.

Atlus is like being in puppy love, sure your friends think she's weird cause of some of her interest and she kind of got you hooked on bizarre anime and esoteric religious philosophies but damn everything about her just makes you sigh with contentment...

Capcom is like that friend you grew up with who was always fun and good for a laugh but then he got hooked on drugs and started doing tricks in the streets to get his fix. Every now and again he get his act together and finally seeks treatment and for awhile it's just like old times and we don't talk about the past but eventually he just fall off the bandwagon again.

Nintendo is like that childhood friend you grew up with who was always so much fun but as you got older he really started to get a bit more eccentric. Sure he has his phobias about the internet and he's never been good about appearances but he throws the best parties even if he forces everyone to obey some bizarre party theme rules like using morrocas or bring you iPad. Your friends are split on whether he's weird and needs help or if his eccentric attitude is the main part of his charm. He's not really fun at home but he's great for road trips.

Sony is like that guy you knew in high school who is a total pretentious douchbag who is rich and always sporting the newest fashions. Granted he has his moments of being a decent human being but it's hard to like him since he's always surrounded by his cheering choir that hang on every word. You don't really like him but you hang out with him anyway cause your friends do and even you have to admit he throws some killer parties. It's just a shame he's not as fun outside of the house since he just likes to tell you the variations of the same story you heard a hundred times at his party.

PC is that dude you've known for quite some years, your friends tell you to hang out with them cause they are pretty diverse and really fun but you feel utterly awkward because you knew the guy from way back when he worked at the library and rarely spoke. Then later on when you got older you accidentally run into them in the porno section of your video store when you both reached for the same video "Ass Pirates V: Search for Captain Deepthroat's Treasure" and the two of you have that awkward moment of deciding who is going to get it. Afterwards every time you hang out with them you keep thinking back to that porn video and it just gets awkward...

Sega is like that friend you met at summer camp during your puberty years and you played together and had such fun and even convinced each other to try "other" things and even though you told yourself you wouldn't you just can't stop thinking about that night. Afterwards you were really heartbroken when you had to leave and go back to your girlfriend (Nintendo) and even now you think back fondly to those times though you've never told your wife (Sony) about them.

Monster Rancher is a childhood friend that I used to hang out with all the time, eventually we grew apart but still keep in touch through Facebook and meet up for get-togethers every now and again where we relive our nostalgia. Then I tell all my other friends how cool and unappreciated he is.

Microsoft is a bad influence on me and I never get anything productive done and we fight nearly all the time when we were on good terms. We had a bad falling out when he started screwing over people and I didn't talk to him for a while until recently as we slowly started rebuilding that relationship, especially after realizing his influence is everywhere and I'm only hurting myself from severing tides with him.

Greenheart Games is a bright kid I met on the road and was really impressed with his long-term goals in life and decided to support his work and encourage him as often as I can offering to assist him where I can.

Nintendo was my first love and while we've grown apart we some times meet up for coffee to talk about old times and what she's doing now. No matter what I'll always have a place in my heart for her.

Sega was my lover until she started getting wasted all the time and made some terrible decisions that caused me to break up with her. Now she insists she's reformed and getting her act together and some times she does amazing things and then she turns around and does something completely stupid. I don't know what to believe, anymore. The sex is still great, though.

...I hope BioWare turns out to be a girl in this scenario, because I'd be giving them lots of head.

Other than a couple of studios I've helped kickstart projects for, I don't really feel like I have a relationship with many companies. Sega and Squaresoft are the ones I miss the most though. They've changed, and we've drifted

Though I still love Street Fighter and a couple random things Capcom puts out. So I guess they're like that friend you don't talk to too much, but you can pick back up right where you left off anytime you run into them or decide to randomly give a hollar

Final Fantasy IX is my best friend in the world. Sometimes we go 2 years without talking, but when we meet up again, everything is back to the way it was. We know everything about each other, but we still have a ton of fun. I can also count on IX to be there when no one else is.

Final Fantasy VIII is a good friend that I have a lot of fun with when we get together, which isn't as often as I would like it to be.

Final Fantasy X is the friend to have a good time with, but there isn't anything deeper there.

Dark Cloud 2 is the friend I see when I want to let loose and have a good time. Dark Cloud 2 is there to help me cheer up and lighten up and stop taking myself too seriously.

Dark Cloud is Dark Cloud 2's little sister who is just the sweetest, nicest thing. I don't spend as much time with her, but it's still fun when I do.

The Suikoden series is the group I hang out with when I want to spend time with more serious people who like to throw in some jokes here and there. They're also very social.

The Xenosaga series is also a more serious friend for when I'm in the mood to think a lot while also acting less.

Xenogears is the person I would love to be friends with because I admire them but I just... don't enjoy myself when we're together.

Majora's Mask is the friend I can go to when I need a shoulder to cry on and when I feel like a freak, because MM is there to make me feel like I'm okay.

Sony is like the friend who I never really knew they were a friend until one day I realized they've kind of always been there.

Microsoft is like the friend who I hang out with in very specific settings, more of a friend of a friend, but we get along fine.

Nintendo is the friend I hang out with in a group, but we rarely do anything just the two of us.

The first developer I knew was Atari. We were both young and pretty simple-minded. Neither of us knew what we were doing. I felt especially stupid most of the time, but then along came the NES and I was happy for a while.
Sega, I only really knew for a brief time of my life shortly before NES left me (jealousy, I guess). Every now and then, I think about her, but I just can't bring myself to reconnect. There was a brief encounter that lasted a few months but then I had to sell my PS2 Sega Collection.
NES had disappeared from my life for nigh on thirty years, then she just popped up one day and asked to move in with me. She's a bit old-school for my tastes so I hardly ever play with her, but we have fun when we do.

I first met Final Fantasy while visiting my cousin. Final Fantasy IV (calling her Final Fantasy II), had me intrigued, but I didn't do anything about it. I later met her sister, Final Fantasy VII, and we began relationship that spanned several years and though I don't really see her anymore, I still have nothing but good things to say about her... well, with the exception that she could do with a makeover.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, Squaresoft was the first developer that I felt I had fallen in love with. I thought we would always be there for each other and trusted that she'd never change. But then came the transition and she started calling herself Square Enix. She and I are still friends and I try to be supportive of the change but things have never been the same between us.
I've only had relationships with two other developers: Midway, whom I mostly admired for her mad skills in the arena, and Neversoft, a skater girl who continually mocked me for not being able to perform an ollie.
I have had the occasional dalliance with Eidos due to Tomb Raider but I was never really all that into her.

I haven't seen Final Fantasy in a while. In fact, I haven't been around all that many games in a while. Well, except for the occasional online "hustler". It's just not the same, you know? I just use them to tide me over because you get backed up if you don't play. Sometimes, when I have enough money, it goes to my head, I decide I have these systems, I might as well play a new game. I go out and take home the first one that catches my eye. I may not regret it right away... but I will eventually.

There have been occasions where I knew things wouldn't work out and I did what needed to be done. End it before things get complicated. But I have also been so conflicted that I ended up waiting too long and became too invested so I end up stuck with them and things just get awkward.
I do have fond memories of Shadow of the Colossus and I always am up for hanging out, but I can just never find the time. I probably wouldn't spend any time with Star Wars: Battlefront if not for my dad. They're really close.

Me and Capcom had a wonderful relationship together, though one day they went away, and I was really, really sad. Then after all these years she came back, and OH DEAR GOD SHE LET HERSELF GO!

And in regards to Digimon World 2 I have a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome.
