Drunk Chocobo
It really annoys me that this will be the last time I ever 100% one of my favorite games of all time because of these stupid mini games. The worst part is, the race to get 0.0 isn't even a real challenge, they just broke the controls and said deal with it. :mad2:
-
Oh man, I got so fed up at this mini game so many times. It got to a point where I could tell 10 seconds in if I was screwed for the rest of the remaining time or not based on my balloons.
Just push through it. I ended up getting the 0.0 . Listen to your favorite music and zone out for a while.
-
It's never taken me more than a few goes in past playthroughs. I don't know if this will help you, but I've always found using the directional buttons rather than the analog stick better. Other than that, just be patient and wait for a favourable run. Every now and again, the balloons will be a bit more accessible.
-
I agree with the guys that hate this mini-game. even tetra master ain't as frustrating.
-
It's not even a little bit enjoyable. I can usually tell before the race even starts if I'll have a chance and it makes it more annoying that I still have to finish the race before I can try again.
-
but to be fair its one minor problem in a otherwise great game. of course getting those butterflys and dodging lots of lighting bolts is annoying.
-
I'm trying again as we speak and I'm pretty sure my controller is messed up as it's all of a sudden hyper sensitive when it works at all. This stupid race is AT LEAST as much luck as skill, if not more. No one will convince me otherwise.
-
This stupid race is great in conception, rubbish in execution. if you want something luck based go to a casino. thinking of just ignoring it for now and doing it later.
-
If I put it off any longer the game is very likely going back on the shelf for about a year. I really just want to finish it. Still working at it...
-
oh I see. I only just got free access to spira from the airship so I can afford to put some things off a bit. If I ever get round to it at all. never really cared enough to get 100% on any game.
-
I can count on one hand the number of games I have 100% over the last 15 years, this was one of them and I want to do it again with all the content I never got to play before. I've never gotten a platinum trophy because I don't have the time, nor care, enough to put in that much effort doing ridiculous tasks in games for no reward whatsoever.
Anyway, for the third night in a row I have spent all of what little time I have on this stupid mini game and still haven't gotten it. If I don't do this tomorrow I am very likely just to put this back on the shelf until God knows when. It is ridiculous for something to be this not fun in a game. I would expect this in garbage like FF 13, not this. Even though I knew it was in there.
-
I think the only game I have 100% on is Starcraft. beyond that I don't see much of a point to doing everything in a game.
extra stuff? oh right an american. you mean the dark aeons and penance? I only ever beat dark Valfor and that was with zamato.
also why is it that so many people don't like 13. and please don't give me that rubbish about it being too linear. lots of games are just as linear or worse.

>>> All those sidequests to get the ultimate/celestial weapons are pointless (Except for Auron`s masamune, which I think is super easy to get it). anyways, you can customize any weapon and make it ultimate..:luca:

First time I played Catcher Chocobo was back when I was a little kid and back then it was fun. Because chocobos were fun. I played it for quite a long time (on my brother's save file), before I even knew about the reward for < 0:0.0. Not knowing about it was probably a good thing back then.
Nowadays, I can get the sigil with ease, every time I play this game. On average it takes me five tries, I'd wager. I do enjoy Catcher Chocobo, and I think that helped tremendously in getting good enough to consistently get the Sun Sigil.
Point being, you CAN get used to Catcher Chocobo's controls, get to know its quirks and rules well enough to make luck much less of an issue. I admit that it's not a very well-designed minigame, it has a lot of flaws, but I can't empathize with 'worst minigame' claims.
