I have such a hard time getting into this game

Every time I try it it just bores me to tears :(

Is there a point where it gets better or am I just doomed to not like FFXII?

For me it has its ups and downs but the overall story is very... building if that makes sense. It builds well together

It depends on what is actually boring you.

The focus of it doesn't really change much, if that helps. I didn't really enjoy it myself too much in the beginning, but it did grow on me little by little as time went by.

I really welcomed the change of pace in the series then, so I was happy with the game. I also liked the Gambit system, as well. Also, the game provided a fun challenge. The downside is that there is so much extra material, so the game does feel like a grind at times.

I found the characters and plot to be very boring to the point where I can't remember a thing about them, unlike pretty much every other FF. I wouldn't have minded so much if the battle system had been fun and redeemed it, but I didn't like that either.

Think of it like lord of the rings, takes ages to get anywhere at the start and feels like a race towards the end, story wise anyway. the characters still tend to be a little bland. given you can completely automate battles makes it a bit like a movie than a game. wait a second that sounds like ff13 :P
