A lot of my favorite characters in gaming come from tactical RPGs. Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Shining Force each have really strong character lineups. Rune Factory and Mass Effect are the runners up.
Might have to give this to the Persona series, with the exception of the first game and maybe some of the spin-off titles I pretty much adore the cast of P2-P4.

I also feel that the Xeno team is really good at making strong characters. Xenogears, Saga, and blade all have overall strong cast of characters, especially the villains.

Aside from that, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IX both have excellent casts. I'd say Suikoden but even though those games have some awesome characters, there's too many characters that are just not all that interesting.
I have to agree with this. I've come to the conclusion that the longer the game, usually the better the characters. It probably stems from the fact that you get to spend so much time with them, which is especially varied for Persona, where you really dive deep into their personal issues.Quote:

Hard choice. Odin Sphere, Lunar 2, Suikoden II, and Persona 4 immediately spring to mind though.

FF5, FF7, FF10 and 10-2, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean 3, Xenoblade, Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, and Eternal Sonata.
