Let's Play Super Mario RPG!

I have never played this game but sharky loves it and all of Pike's threads have inspired me to give it a try!

Before we start, I have hardly ever used the zsnes emulator and I'm not super familiar with controls and stuff :shobon: I haven't been able to figure out how to open the menu in game. I tried all of the buttons I know of but its not working. Anyways, let's get started!

So here is Princess Peach/Toadstool! Apparently Toadstool and Peach and Daisy have some weird intertangled naming stuff going on but the Mario wiki says she's Peach and she looks like Peach so I'm calling her Peach :colbert:

So Bowser takes her to his ominous castle of ominousness where he can apparently control the weather to suit the atmosphere he is trying to create (ominousness is an actual word, I just found out)

So I get in to some battles in the castle and it made me chuckle

Oh no the bridge fell! That's some shoddy construction :/. You think with all of the money Bowser obviously spends (he owns his own castle with a lava pit) he could maybe hire some better builders.

So eventually I find Peachstool dangling from the ceiling

And I get in to a fight with Bowser, which wasn't unexpected, and then Peachstool decides to give me instructions

So I do some fights and I gotta tell ya, I am awful at this game :/

So then I meet some guys who say they don't like my face and neither do their hammers. They use an attack called.... hammer time

I was never that good at getting Mario to land multiple jumps on the enemies.

I love the puns in this game.

Bowser has never been good at interior bridges over lava. It was his demise through most of the first Super Mario game.

The Chancellor also stops Mario a good number of times before he leaves and Mario apparently doesn't take well to that, falling over, rolling down stairs, and smashing in to doors.

Ah, they're really easy to miss when you first play. The next time you play, make sure to ride on top of Toad's head, until you get to the door of the throne room. before he enters, jump on the ledge & a hidden box will appear w/ a frog coin.

There are 39 hidden boxes in the game w/ various items. Unfortunately, you can only get that one on the first try. If you want, you can use a hidden box FAQ, or try to find them on your own.

It's your first playthrough, so don't feel bad about it.

Actually not, because somehow Mario has started sucking at jumping. I can't tell you how frustrating these stupid jumps were and at one point I messed up so many times that I got rid of all of the monsters on the field and then I GOT A STUPID STAR IN THE TREASURE CHEST I WORKED SO HARD TO GET :nonono:
