What it says on the tin folks!
Um... Chrono Cross? Unless you count Bravely Default as non-FF, then that.
I think that Romancing SaGa 3's soundtrack is the best. I get excited even getting into a battle because the battle theme is so good, and all the character themes are pretty amazing. Even dungeon themes are really good, and leave a smile on my face while I explore.
The Super Mario RPG soundtrack is so good.
Star Ocean 3 has a better soundtrack than any FF game.
I really like some tracks from Xenogears, and many from Dragon Quest VIII.
It's a simple fact. Uematsu is great but Mitsuda is better.
Xenogears had the best soundtrack of anything ever.
Chrono Trigger, of course.
Add another vote for Chrono Cross! The soundtrack was the best part of that game. CT is great too, but I didn't walk down the isle at my wedding to a CT song.
I have to hand it to Yasunori Mitsuda, Chrono Trigger and Xenogears are phenomenal soundtracks.
Yoko Shimomura has done some excellent work for Square over the years.
Not that Hitoshi Sakimoto is no slouch either.
...and who can forget Hiroki Kikuta's awesome work on Secret of Mana (Seiken Denetsu 2)
Xenogears, for me, is the clear answer.
After FF7, Xenogears is my favorite soundtrack. Some of the late game tracks get less love because the game basically shoves half the plot in your face at once and reuses a lot of the same OST in that time period.
My Village is Number One and The One Who is Torn Apart give me chills and almost scare me due to how attached they make me and they really lure me into the feeling.
Mitsuda and Uematsu deserve to share a Nobel Prize.
I vote for Chrono Cross.
