I never owned this console so I don't even know what these words mean.
The only NES game I've played for any decent length of time was Super Mario Bros, so I guess this can be my answer.

Final Fantasy! Of course.
It's not like I go on just any game series' forum and start causing trouble.
The only two I've played in recently memory were the origonal two zelda games.
I hated The Legend of Zelda Less than Adventure of Link. So we'll go for that.
The Legend of Zelda. Honourable mention to SMB3.
Zelda maybe...but...SMB3 was such a well-crafted game I have to give it credit. It's one of the few games that I've known non-gamers to get into. Exquisite craftsmanship, infinite re-playability, generation barrier destructing uber funness.
Final Fantasy!
It really depends on the day. SMB3 is probably the answer for me, but it's hard to decide. I honestly haven't really played that many NES games, but there are times that all I want in life is to play Castlevania or Batman. I'll go on Gradius binges too. Somedays it is Zelda. At the end of the day, SMB3 is the one I play the most.
Mega Man 2 is my favorite NES game, though if we're just doing Nintendo properties, The Legend of Zelda is my favorite.
Super Mario Bros 1 & 2, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, Ninja Gaiden. I can't remember which NG game I played, though. I think it was 3.
Duck hunt.
Bucky O'Hare!
Super Mario Bros.
Final Fantasy III, though I've never finished it.
Shatterhand. <3
There are tons of runner-ups though, like the original LoZ, Legend of the Kage, FF1 and 3, DQ 1 and 3, Jackal, the Mega Man series, Kirby's Adventure, Gargoyle's Quest 2 . . . it's a really long list, actually. I loves me some NES.
Mega Man 2 by far. Since I already gave that as an answer in a different thread, I'll name a runner up...hmmm...
Probably Super Mario Bros. 3. Yep, boring answer, but that game is held in such high regard for a reason.
