BOW AND ARROW
I wish I could use in real life but I have awful accuracy and I'm super weak. Might be a good workout if I tried though?
I like fist-type weapons. Punching giant monsters in the face is so cool.
Dragoons are bad ass. Spears it is.
I quite like the idea of ranged weaponry myself, but I went for guns in the end. Balthier always looked so cool using them.
Gun. I like the idea of shooting a guy several times in the chest as they charge me blindly with their sword raised.

I generally opt for spears when they are available. Most games give them superior reach and solid damage with relatively minor tradeoffs, so . . . what's not to love. :)
In order: bows, spears and guns.
I prefer stuff with good reach.
