I'd say for me its Leaf or Dawn

Dawn is my far and away favorite avatar in the games, because I loved her hat -- it was sooooo big on her sprite, it was almost like it ate most of her head. :D
May and Hilbert. May is actually the only female protagonist that I ever used. Not only is her design so much better than Brendan's, I think her design is the best protagonist design in the series, period. I just chose her again in Alpha Sapphire. It's good to be back.
I love Hilbert's design due to how older he looks compared to the earlier designs, plus all that hair is a nice change. I had wanted my main male protagonist to have more hair for such a long time... Hilda's pretty awesome too, now that I think about it. Both of their designs just serve to remind me further why Black and White are my favorite Pokemon games.
And hey, Pumpkin, I propose you add Nate and Rose from Black2/White2 to the first post as well ;)
None of them is an actual character and does anything except "go from town to town, defeat people by a stronger bond with his/her own Pokémon and defeat a villain organization".
Red is cool for appearance in the 2nd generation, but I like his anime universe incarnation more. Actually I liked all those anime universe incanations more.
Red for badassary because of his endgame appearance in Silver/Gold.
Ethan for looks/design.
Red, Gold, and Crystal.

I like Serena and Hilda because they're less 'cute anime girl' and a bit more like me.
I like Arthur best. His design changes a lot, but it's cool that he's pretty much the only recurring character (other than Oak!) in all of the Pokemon games I've played.
