-ra, -aga definitely. Makes it sound more magicky.
I like the Flavour text, let me cast Fire Storm instead of Fire2
I prefer the numbers, honestly.
Having numbers for the spell names seems a bit jarring.
If you were a mage and you named a spell, you wouldn't call it 'Ice 7', would you?
I like ra and aga but I prefer Ice and Bolt to Blizzard and Thunder and while Iceara and Iceaga doesnt really roll off the tounge I think Frost/Frostara/Frostaga would have been a good substitute
I want numbers. It's the same spell you're casting, you've just gotten better at it so it's stronger, but it takes more out of you.
I prefer Thunder / a / aga compared to Bolt 1 / 2 / 3, but I wouldn't complain if they went back to the old numbered system. I wonder what even made them change it in FFVIII onwards?
They actually were always the fire/a/aga classification, the earlier games just didn't have the space limits to translate properly. Kind of like how the Scan spell is Libra but libra itself is a shorten version of library. The real question is why VII didn't change it when it most likely could have.
You've never met Red Mage, have you?
I like the a-ra-aga more :jess:
Mages being a vocal class, the spells should more fun to say. So the a/ra is better. But spells are at their strongest when they're an onomatopoeia. Kaboomle and Kaswooshle being the best spell names ever.
