Ok when it cuts to the footage of the actual gameplay I noticed there's a summon command. All of this footage is obviously from the opening of the game and the escape from Midgar. However your first summon isnt available until you leave Midgar and go to the Chocobo farms and get chocobo as your first opportunity to acquire a summon materia. So I wonder why there is a summon option in a spot where there is no option for summon. Did anybody else notice that
Probably because it's early in development and that's a tentative menu.
Pretty much what Fynn said. Its most likely the combat was a test run utilizing stuff from later.
I didn't notice it since things went by pretty quickly, but Fynn and Wolf are probably on point. I don't think we'll be getting summons that early in the game. It'd make fighting too easy.
That is not an error. Trailer and demos just have stuff that is not usable. The Final Fantasy VII demo my brothers have played back in 1997 had Leviathan to summon where it was not possible - at least going by what they said. I never was able to see it to confirm that it was not past Wutai.
Yeah the VII demo let you use Aerith in your party while infiltrating the Mako Reactor in the game's opening. She used Ice magic and could use Leviathan but couldn't use Limit Breaks. Barret had Big Shot and Cloud could use Braver and Cross Slash. The boss of the demo wasn't the Guard Scorpion either, it used a Sweeper unit whose model had been enlarged.Quote:

It's the Aerith/Aeris Demo. The version that came later known as Tifa didn't have Leviathan as a summon, it had Ifirit, Titan and Neo Bahamut. Also, I was wrong, Aerith did have access to her Limit Break Healing Wind. The Eidos demo didn't use Leviathan either.Quote:

But yeah as has been stated, the demo is just showing off various things. They have quite a lot of HP as well which suggests it's just for...well, demo purposes I guess.
I kinda want to play that demo now.
Maybe they added in a new summon.
Has anyone considered how summons might be changed with the new battle system?
