Juice - all walks of fizzy drink. Put fruit in front to designate still fruit juice. Put diluting in front to designate whether its designed to be diluted (known to plebs as squash).

Isn't a morning roll just simply a roll? I don't really see the need to put 'morning' in front of it. :p

Funnily enough, despite being English I still call them 'English muffins'; mainly to distinguish from the cake muffin. Also, people get really confused if you say they'll be eating muffin pizzas, so I stick the English on the front to make it more obvious.

I also feel as if there should be a distinction between soft and hard cookies. If only because soft cookies are far more superior to the hardened variety and to prevent me from confusing the two and ruining my day.

Actually the image I used for roll is probably a bad representation because you really have to feel the texture of the roll, but if you've ever had a Warburtons roll then you'll know it's very different from the kind of roll one traditionally throws bacon and egg into. Morning rolls tend to have more, uh... air? I guess? While a regular roll is much more filling due to being quite dense.

I tend to refer to what you call 'hard cookies' as 'biscuits'. If it's not soft, it's not a cookie, dammit. Or at least, it's an overcooked cookie.

Look at that. It says cookie on the packet, but you bite into it - it's hard! And dry! Not chewy! Not yummy! Bleh!

As for the rolls, I suppose there are several types. Warbourton's rolls I agree are softer, more pillow-y. My favourite rolls however are the rolls with a lovely crust, now they are delicious.

I think morning rolls are sometimes called breakfast rolls, and they are identified as such in any place I've bought them. Honestly, they're pretty crap, but good if you don't want to overdo it on the bread.

I don't mind Marynland biscuits, but they definitely tread the line between biscuit and cookie very narrowly. I would call them biscuits, though. Cookies tend to be larger and more... home baked-y. I buy cookies from bakeries and they come in bags with a short shelf life. Biscuits have a longer shelf life and come in packets like the one you linked.

What's confusing about crumpets? :tumble:

We need to get Face in here so he and I can fight over the term "chicken burger."

They have a similar look, but a totally different texture. Hard to explain though! This shows the internals of a crumpet, and helps show why people like to melt butter (or other things) over the top of them after they toast them up.

oh man I miss NZ meat pies. Steak and cheese, mince and cheese, potato top, nom nom nom nom nom.

It's cute you Brits are so particular with what you call your quasi-food to convince yourself they have something resembling unique flavors.

In all seriousness, I pretty much use standard names for things.
