A Harpoon? Really

Ward from FFVIII is well-known for having one of the worst weapons in Final Fantasy history.

Let's chuck a huge harpoon at an enemy... then go and retrieve it. Really, you should receive damage every time you retrieve it as surely the enemy would have a cheeky swipe at you?

What kind of weapon do you think would suit Ward better?

Still better than gunblade.

What's better then a giant man using a frozen fish as a weapon. A giant man doing elegant fencing moves with said fish.

I'd love the idea of Ward just hitting people with other characters, reminds me of Umaro in FFVI who used the party as weapons half the time.

For some reason it feels like that kind of weapon would fit him quite well, and it would also have been nice to see the axe make a return;
I believe the last time I saw an axe in a Final Fantasy game was in Final Fantasy 5, as the Berserker's main weapon Final Fantasy Tactics, as the Geomancer's main weapon.

I have to find more opportunities to fit "a cheeky swipe" into my every day conversations.

Bazooka cannon with a cannon ball?

While in reality the harpoon is dumb as hell, I like that it's different at least, in the game.
