Recently Square-Enix announced a new playable character for their arcade version of the PSP classic Dissidia. Joining Ramza, Ace is the second character announced for the game that doesn't hail from a numbered entry, maybe Mystic Quest fans can still pray that Benjamin or Tristam will make a showing.
Square-Enix also announced a new event for the game called "Battle of the Gods" which featured two new characters being introduced. Chaos and Cosmos seem to have their roles usurped by Spiritus and Materia, two opposing gods who may be using the heroes and villains of Final Fantasy to fight their war much like Chaos and Cosmos did.

Materia is a god?
FFVII just keeps making less and less sense...
I guess Pokémon wasn't the first game to let children cram gods in their pocket and use them to unleash devastation on their opponents.

Oh, I'm really disappointed. If a card fighting character should've gone through, it should've been Setzer from FFVI.
