Definitely DQVII because I never got into Star Ocean. It does seem like the second one is the last one that isn't hated by the majority or at least a very vocal minority of fans. At any rate, I quite liked playing DQ7 on 3DS.
DQVII was cool. Never played SO though
Haven't played DQ7, Star Ocean 2 was excellent
VII is my favourite in the series. Also I completely forgot TriAce is an Enix thing.
DQ7 has never really managed to grip me and SO2 is almost inarguably the best entry in the franchise, so I'll go SO2.
