That would be death. Note the term "Phantom Train".
Cyan is refering to whereever the dead go. Sabin is surprised because he thinks it is just any other train that goes through the forest until Cyan realizes which train it is and informs the group.
Actualy I think Cyan Knew but didn't get a chance to say to Sabin!
SABIN: Hey a train we can hitch a ride
CYAN: Sir Sabin!
Sabin: Lets go!!
CYAN: Sabin!!
SABIN: Come on Hurry!!
CYAN: SIR!!!
(Or something to that effect!)
Right. Either way Sabin is surprised because he learns that the train takes you to the other side; not because he knew what the train was already for.
Well, "the other side" is clear enough for me...
The train is FULL of ghosts!
I thought that it was obvious enough that they were referring to death. Back in the day of a squeamish Nintendo, references to death often had to be made into euphemisms, which is why "the other side" got used :P
KEFKA: "*poisons Doma*"
CAYENNE: "Oh my GOSH! That BAD MAN sent my countrymen and only loved ones to ANOTHER DIMENSION!"
Well the 'dear departed' made part made it beyond obvious, even if the ghosts and reference to 'the other side' didnt.
Yeah, but still, what's this guy doing there? (see attached)
He's just chillin' :aimsun:
 I like Matt's answer :D
but anyway, that Siegfried is a fake. ;) The real one's found in the colosseum much later in the game. ;)
