Keep resetting? That's what I did. Its pure luck if you win it, all the characters suck and all the teams are way better than you :/ Took me an hour or two to win it. Once you score, just keep passing the ball around, keeping it away from Lucca is the key xD
Don't bother to win it, really. There is no use in winning it. Once you get there, play blitzball whenever you can from a save point. At first it sucks. when you (SPOILER) get the airship go and recruit people from Luca and Mi'hen highroad.
If you have the Jecht Shot assign that to Tidus, swim as close to the goal as possible and let fly.

Isn't too hard, and you don't get anything for winning either except for a strength sphere and a tiny bit of extra footage.
