So what exactly is gil?

Maybe it's a little gold or silver coin with a little symbol inscribed on it.
I always imagined it being coins. Coins are cool.
It comes from "gilda," the Old English word for gold. (Compare it to the verb gild.) We know it's a coin thanks to the Coin Toss ability.
Oh...well I guess that makes sense. Ummm ok.....well I'm done then. *walks off*
SO I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....sort of.Quote:

yeah, in FFVI when you tell Setzer to use "GP Rain" or "Gil Toss", he'll throw disc-like coins. (those coins with holes in the middle).
and in FFVII, if you use "Coin", you choose how much you wanna throw, then ur char throws a bunch of coins.
Sorry people, but in the worlds of FF people use fish heads for currency. :p
Pike heads are worth the most, and trout are in the middle, while catfish are really cheap, kinda like pennies.
In FF it means money.:aim$:
