I went for an Irish theme and noone complained
....yikes gotta get to school
Back to the subject! Can any actually answer my question?
Electric Guitar, Piano, Bass Guitar and saxaphone.
Err... you really don't get anything special if you get the "correct" combination. I'm not even sure there is a correct combination.
No items, but the conversation changes depending on which song you go with. Eyes on Me gets Rinoa furious for some reason, while the happier one gets Squall to open up a bit more.Quote:

just a bit of character development and plot explanation that a hell of a lot of people miss out on basically (SPOILER) squall tells rinoa that has to rely on himself due to the fact that people all eventually leave you, the thing spawns from ellone leaving the orphange. and rinoa tells him that he can rely on the others to be there cause they and her arent going anywhere
That is sooo true, I kept choosing the instruments for the "Eyes on me" piece and kept getting Rinoa being mardy and Squall being mardy too. But when I did the other jollier tune, Squall and Rinoa seemed better and nicer, their attitudes were better too, so I think I'll stick with the jolly tune from now on. :D
OK by the jolly one you mean the guitar
Bum, bum bum bum | Bum, bum bum bum | Bum, bum bum bum
Or the irish one...however it went ( Irish roxxors) lemme try
Do do doo do doodly doodly doodly do doo do doodly dooDILy do
The Irish Jig is considered the "jollier" one, and causes Squall and Rinoa to have the longest and most productive conversation. "Eyes On Me" causes a fight, and other combinations basically cause the duo to talk about how much the music sucks.
There's already a thread on this... but basically, ShivaBlizzard8's right. No surprises there. However, choosing 'Eyes on Me' seems to have just the same result as any other 'bad' combination... Rinoa says that she knows the song, but the others are playing horribly, and goes to sort them out, cutting short the conversation. If you choose the jig tune (it can't be an 'Irish' jig, since Ireland doesn't exist in FFVIII's world:p), it's far more rewarding to watch that scene.
For the jig, choose tap, guitar, violin and flute; for EoM, choose the bass, piano, sax and electric guitar. Incidentally, one of the black-and-white pictures shown before the 'new game/continue' screen shows Selphie playing the electric guitar during this scene.
But yeah, duplicate topic, so I'll close this one, since it was made later. That'll avoid confusion.
