Evil Chocobos

Alright. I went to the chocobo sage and he told me how to get a green chocobo and a blue one, by getting a good or great chocobo and mating them with a carob nut. I did and it didn't work. Does it matter if the great one is a male or female or something? Or do you have to breed both a good and great instead of good/great and something else?

You need them to be S-Class Racers by racing them at the Gold Saucer. It's not required, but it greatly increases your chances of getting a special chocobo.
